Built-in kitchen bins can be tucked away under the counter or by repurposing an existing deep and tall cabinet. Having a dedicated space for your kitchen bins will easily hide away your untidy and overflowing kitchen bins. Built-in kitchen bins also allow you to have a waste management system that can not only be used to dispose of waste but also encourages you to recycle.

Maximizing storage space is commonly known as a DIY project, but there is a lot that can be done from the design stage. For us, it really comes down to the details, and storage space is really important to consider, especially, for the kitchen. It’s never about the amount of storage you have in your kitchen but how you store things and how you organize them.

Storage spaces cannot be done over a quick fix. Most DIY projects and use of store-bought dividers do not necessarily eliminate clutter as you’ll always have to reorganize your things again over time. So if you are interested to consider designing a seamless and smart storage space in your kitchen, here are 3 design tips for you to try to make your kitchen more functional and free from clutter.

1. Storage drawers that fit everything

Drawers are usually one of the most cluttered storage spaces. In the kitchen, drawers can be used for cutlery or kitchen utensils. Although you might think getting dividers might be a good option, have you ever considered the length of each of your utensils? Or if each specific space provided in your divider will be large enough?

When this becomes a problem for you, consider creating built-in dividers that follow the shape of your drawers. Particularly, dividers carving out space diagonally which allows you to have space for all lengths. From a short-length basting brush to a rolling pin, this design tip truly maximizes your storage space and you’ll be able to fit all of your things.

2. Install pull-out trays to your cabinets

Some cabinets may go very deep, which makes looking for things extremely hard if you do not utilize this storage space well. For instance, cabinets that are located under the counter will require you to bend down and practically reach in to be able to get what you need. As cabinets are usually used to store cookware and bakeware such as pots and pans, not having a storage system will most likely lead to clutter.

You can quickly fix this by installing pull-out trays or rolling trays to keep your items organized and most importantly accessible. These pull-out trays are also very universal. So whether you are storing lids, baking dishes, or pots, there is space for everything.
